Catering for the Needs of Inmates in Correctional Centres
The I.E.T has a dedicated Daiyyah to the Lagos Correctional Centres, who estimates that there are 3,200 Muslim inmates in Lagos State Correctional
Centres many of whom do not deserve to be there. They suffer from lack of supply of basic personal hygiene items like Bath soap, tooth paste, sanitary
pad (for lady inmates) and they see their Christian counterparts receiving these items from Christian N.G.O'S who do not hesitate to evangelise in
these conditions.
Recently, classes were opened in some Centres to afford Muslim inmates opportunities to obtain WAEC certificates using volunteer teachers instigated by the I.E.T. whose transport costs are met by the body.
It is estimated that about N5,000,000 ($13,900) is required annually to meet their needs.
